How to Sabotage Your Chances of Landing the Job of Your Dreams

If ever there was a comprehensive list of reasons that an employer may not select you to fill that position, this is it: READ ON!

  1. Failing to look at your interviewer when conversing
  2. Not expressing yourself with clarify and/or using poor voice diction, grammar
  3. Submitting a sloppy application form
  4. Lacking in interest and enthusiasm:  exemplifying passive and indifferent behavior and/or asking only rudimentary questions about the job
  5. Providing vague or incoherent answers to questions that are asked of you
  6. Acting in an overbearing, aggressive or conceited manner
  7. Making excuses or being evasive about unfavorable factors in your resume
  8. Failing to demonstrate interest in company or industry
  9. Forgetting to express appreciation for the interviewer’s time 
  10. Placing an undue emphasis on salary to the exclusion of all else    
  11. Demonstrating intolerance or appearing to have strong prejudices 
  12. Expecting too much too soon 
  13. Exhibiting a laziness or lack of motivation 
  14. Showing indecisiveness 
  15. Lack of career planning: demonstrating no identifiable purpose and goals 
  16. Condemning your past employers 
  17. Lacking in courtesy and tact 
  18. Demonstrating a lack of maturity/professionalism
  19. Demonstration a poor personal appearance: i.e. hair uncombed, shoes unshined, body odor evident
  20. Arriving late for your interview
