DynamiCareers offers language tutoring in the Washington,D.C. areas–as well as via Skype.  Languages taught are French, German, Italian and Spanish. One on one sessions are charged at a per person cost of $40/hr while group lessons are $30/per hr. Skype costs run just $25/hr. 

While the majority of clients are High School or college students, there are also many adults who wish to acquire greater competency in a language—either for their own pleasure or in preparation for a business venture. Many wish to review a long-dormant language proficiency.  Tutoring is also offered for those elementary school students whose parents are anxious for them to gain some amount of language proficiency before beginning formal classroom instruction.

I received my MBA in 1992 from the American Graduate School of International Management (Glendale,Arizona) and a B.S. in Languages and Linguistics in French/German/Italian/Spanish in 1974 from Georgetown University’s School of Languages and Linguistics.  

Over the past 2 decades, I have taught hundreds of students.  My emphasis is on proper pronunciation: after all, aside from Latin, a language IS meant to be spoken, and it is important for the non-native to master the new sounds that come with it. Pattern drills are an extremely useful tool as they tend to bolster students’ confidence, allowing them to feel comfortable with new words and expressions.  

I ask that students read a passage out loud and respond to a series of questions that are designed to ascertain whether they have truly understood the material they just read.  If not, we review those words and expressions again until such time as they have mastered them successfully. 

While it is difficult to invoke the ‘immersion method’ I start with simple sentences and build on them: ‘This is a book/this is a red book/this is a large red book/ this is a large, expensive, red book. ’ I demonstrate meaning through a series of gestures or pictures of various daily activities.
